Google Ads Management Overview
The Google Ads Platform is undoubtedly one of the most powerful advertising channels in the world. There’s immense value in being right there when an individual is searching for something and utilizing all the data that a powerful search engine possesses. But the Google Ads Platform is so much more than just search. For businesses who understand the need to have a professional tame the powerful beast that is Google Ads, it can be a game-changer. However, for those who attempt to navigate it themselves, they can be left with a lighter wallet and no new business to show for it.
At OEPMA, we have managed millions of dollars in ad spend on the Google Ads platform. We work diligently to ensure our clients’ campaigns are clean, efficient, and effective. If you’re considering or would like to explore Google Ads for your business, please reach out to us. We’d be more than happy to discuss how we can help you harness the power of this incredible platform while avoiding the pitfalls that many businesses face when trying to manage their campaigns independently.

What can you do with Google Ads?
Many people think of Google Ads as the advertisements that appear based on what they type into the search bar. While search ads are a significant part of the platform, Google Ads offers much more. The platform allows you to serve video ads and display ads as well, providing a comprehensive approach to reaching your target audience.
Search Ads: These are the text-based ads that appear at the top and bottom of Google search results pages when someone searches for keywords related to your business, products, or services. Search ads help you reach potential customers who are actively looking for what you offer.
Video Ads: Google Ads allows you to serve video ads on YouTube and other Google Display Network sites. Video ads can help you engage with your audience, showcase your products or services, and tell your brand’s story in a compelling way. You can choose from various video ad formats, such as skippable in-stream ads, non-skippable in-stream ads, bumper ads, and video discovery ads.
Display Ads: Display ads are visual advertisements that appear on websites, apps, and other digital platforms that are part of the Google Display Network. These ads can include images, text, and interactive elements, allowing you to capture the attention of potential customers as they browse the web. Display ads can be targeted based on demographics, interests, and behaviors, ensuring your message reaches the right people.
By leveraging search, video, and display ads in combination, you can create a powerful advertising strategy that appeals to potential customers at various stages of their research into your field.
How much do I need to spend on Google Ads to get business?
The answer to this question depends on three key elements: the geographic location being targeted, the industry, product, or service being advertised, and the level of competition currently in the market. Generally speaking, a service company located in West Virginia will likely require a lower monthly spend than a similar service company in Los Angeles.
To be completely transparent, it’s impossible to determine the exact answer to “How much should I spend?” until you dive into the platform and start running ads. This process allows you to discover what it takes to generate leads or make sales in your specific market. Be cautious when using predictive software solutions that provide “average CPC prices” and search volumes, as these estimates are often inaccurate. Avoid basing your advertising plan solely on these tools.
This is the general advice we provide to our clients when it comes to Google Ads. You won’t have a clear understanding of what it takes to drive results for your business until you start running ads and gathering data about your target market. Once you have this information, you’ll be better equipped to determine the appropriate budget needed to make a significant impact on your business.
It’s important to note that Google Ads is not a contractual obligation. There is no minimum monthly spend requirement, and you have the flexibility to pause or stop your ads at any time.
Ultimately, the best approach is to start with a budget you’re comfortable with, closely monitor your ads’ performance, and make data-driven decisions to optimize your campaigns for the best possible return on investment.
Why do I need to pay someone to manage my Google Ads account?
The reason for hiring a professional to manage your Google Ads account is no different than why you would hire any other skilled professional. Just as you would pay a plumber to fix your toilet, a mechanic to repair your car, or a lawyer to assist you with a legal matter, you should consider hiring an experienced Google Ads specialist to manage your advertising campaigns. Doing so provides peace of mind, knowing that you have someone working on your behalf, with your best interests in mind, to get the job done effectively and efficiently.
While Google makes it seem easy for anyone to set up and start running ads, it’s important to remember that Google is, first and foremost, a business. The primary goal of any business is to grow revenue. It benefits Google more when business owners who lack an intimate knowledge of the Google Ads platform manage their own accounts, compared to working with a knowledgeable agency like OEPMA, who knows how to fine-tune campaigns and save money.
Managing a Google Ads account requires a deep understanding of the platform, as well as expertise in areas such as keyword research, bid management, ad copywriting, and landing page optimization. A professional Google Ads manager will have the skills and experience necessary to create and execute effective campaigns that drive results while minimizing wasted spend.
A dedicated Google Ads manager will continuously monitor and optimize your campaigns, staying up-to-date with the latest best practices and platform updates. This proactive approach ensures that your advertising efforts remain competitive and adaptable in an ever-changing landscape.
What Are Google Local Service Ads?
Google Local Service Ads (referred to simply as LSA) are a form of advertising on Google, but they are not managed through the Google Ads dashboard. Although they are “Ads on Google,” they are a separate entity from Google Ads. We understand that this can be confusing, which is why we’ve written an article about it, which is linked below.
What is the Difference Between Google Ads and Google Local Service Ads?
Google Local Service Ads are available to specific industries, and there is a vetting process that your business must go through before you can start appearing in these ads. This process helps ensure that only legitimate and reliable businesses are featured in LSA ads, providing users with a sense of trust and confidence when selecting a service provider.
At OEPMA, we also manage Google Local Service Ads for our clients. If you’re interested in Google Local Service Ads Management, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us today.
